Student Research

Student Research
At UNC Asheville, Psychology students actively participate in hands-on research that deepens their understanding of human behavior and mental processes. Working closely with faculty mentors, students explore topics such as cognitive function, social dynamics, mental health, and developmental psychology. Many engage in the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Program, where they design studies, collect and analyze data, and share their findings through campus symposia and professional conferences. This research experience not only enriches classroom learning but also prepares students for graduate study and a wide range of careers.
PAL Lecture Series

PAL Lecture Series
The Psychology And Life (PAL) Lecture Series at UNC Asheville brings students together with professionals, scholars, and practitioners from a variety of psychology-related fields. Through engaging talks and interactive discussions, students gain insight into real-world applications of psychological theory, explore career paths, and connect classroom learning with current issues in the discipline. The series includes lectures, films, and related events held throughout each semester.
Clubs & Organizations

Clubs & Organizations
The Psych Club at UNC Asheville offers students a fun, supportive, and academically focused community for exploring their interest in psychology. Established in 1929, Psi Chi recognizes and promotes excellence in scholarship while advancing the science of psychology, and provides opportunities to plan and host psychology-related events on campus, connect with peers, and engage with faculty and staff outside the classroom. These activities foster networking, leadership, and collaboration while building a stronger connection to the discipline.
Students who wish to take their involvement further may join Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.. Membership offers additional opportunities for academic growth, professional development, and recognition.
Psychology Department Faculty
Unlike larger universities, we offer smaller classes taught by professors, not teaching assistants, and the opportunity to collaborate closely with faculty. Our psychology department is a community of scholars dedicated to supporting each other as we work together to make the world a better place through the knowledge and best practices of the discipline.
